St. Catharines Extends Cooling Centre Hours

 COOLING CENTRES

The excessive heat alert issued June 28 by Niagara Regional Public Health remains in effect.  Residents can find relief at several City facilities.

The City has extended the hours at its outdoor pools, splash pads and some recreation facilities.

Extended pool and splash pad hours• All outdoor pools July 4 to 8: open until dusk.  • Catherine Street splash pad and Pearson Park splash pad July 4 to 8: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

• St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre free leisure swims until July 9.

Open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In addition to remaining in cool areas, residents are advised to take extra precautions, such as frequent breaks in cool and shady areas, plan activities during cooler parts of the day and evening and drink plenty of fluids.
Residents are also encouraged to check in on family, friends and neighbours, especially those susceptible to heat-related illness.
