Boy dies while swimming at Sherkston Quarry Beach

Another tragedy in the water in Niagara.

Police were called at 8:30 last night to Sherkston Shores in Port Colborne.

A 12 year old boy from North York was last seen swimming with his two friends 20 feet from shore at the Quarry beach.

The boy appeared to be struggling, went under water, and did not resurface.

NRPS Underwater Search and Recovery Unit responded and were able to recover the boy from the water.

The boy's family has asked that his name not be released.
