A 47 year old Quebec woman on a cycling tour of Niagara has died after an accident on Sunday morning.
The accident happened on Decew Road at 1st Street Louth in St. Catharines when the woman started her descent on the steep hill.
Police say she couldn't handle a sharp right turn at the bottom of the hill and collided with a metal guardrail after she was ejected from the bike.
She was transferred to St. Catharines General hospital where she died a short time later from her injuries.
Some good samaritans plus members of the cycling group helped the woman until emergency crews arrived.
Her name is being withheld until family is reached.
The group of 26 cyclists were on a cycling tour of the region planned through Velo Quebec Voyages.
Police continue their investigation.
