Most Niagara fire bans still in place

A dose of rain over this week isn't quite enough to cancel burning bans in most of Niagara.
Most municipalities called the bans earlier this month in the midst of a tinder-dry summer. There are fears outdoor fires could spread to nearby grass & plants & then burn out of control.
Fire Departments in Niagara Falls & Fort Erie say they're out of the woods. Burn bans in those municipalities have been lifted.
Grimsby will re-evaluate its ban on Monday.
Open-air burning bans are also still in place in Lincoln, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Pelham, St. Catharines, Wainfleet, Welland & West Lincoln.
