Thorold rower's family beaming at silver Olympic finish

8/2/2012

Thorold rower's Natalie Mastracci's silver finish in London brought tears to her uncle's eyes.

Ralph Mastracci huddled with family around a TV Thursday morning to watch Natalie & the rest of Canada's women's 8 capture 2nd at the Summer Games.  The American crew took gold.

Ralph tells 610 CKTB's Kevin Jack watching the race, her family was excited from the starting shot, until the moment the silver medal was placed around Natalie's neck.

Her uncle says Natalie has been a great athlete since her days at Denis Morris High School when she focused her skills on basketball.

Ralph hopes that 23-year-old Natalie "keeps on going" & that will be able to cheer for her again at the next Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
