Mayor says another successful Canal Days

8/7/2012

The mayor of Port Colborne says it was a privilege to host Canal Days this past weekend.

Vance Badaway says the weekend went fine and was a success.

Badaway says Friday was busy all day with an increase in numbers especially in the entertainment section.

He says the extreme hot weather on Saturday and rain on Sunday did keep some people away but they came back in droves when mother nature settled down.

The mayor also says he is pleasantly surprised how much further Canal Days is attracting visitors.

Badaway adds there were people from all over the world in Port Colborne this past weekend.

Early reports show a successful bottom line for vendors and retailer in the downtown core.

Can anyone comment on a rumor going around Port Colborne that a man was killed in a bar fight during Canal Days, and if this did happen, why is it being covered up? Does anyone have any information on these alleged rumors?
