Welland woman charged with fraud

8/7/2012

A Welland woman is facing fraud charges after police launched an investigation back in February.

Detectives were called to investigate an employee, who worked as a bookkeeper suspected of fraud at a business in Lincoln.

It's believed that the employee was writing fraudulent cheques to herself.

Police say the bookkeeper attempted to hide the fraud by making false entries on the accounting system.

The alleged fraud was discovered by a new bookkeeper that was hired after the suspect left the company.

Charged with one count of Fraud Under $5,000 and one count Fraud Over $5,000 is Melissa Natalie Aubin of Welland.
