Hartzel's "suicide lane"

8/9/2012

Businesses along Hartzel Road are calling it the "suicide lane".

Since the popular and busy street in Merritton went to three lanes, with the turning lane in the middle, a lot of motorists and business are not happy with the new configuration.

The owner of the Home Hardware Wayne Allan tells 6-10 CKTB trying to get in and out of the middle lane restricts people from turning into the businesses or sidestreets.

Allan says sales are down but it is hard to say if the new road is affecting the business.

He says one thing is for sure, since the new configuration business has been slow.

Dean Coote, the manager of Pennzoil is not happy with the new system either.

Coote says his business has not been affected but it is still a nightmare in front of his store.
