If there's going to be a casino in Toronto, it won't be at Ontario Place.
The provincial government is endorsing all 18 recommendations from an advisory panel on the future of the lakefront park. Most of Ontario Place has been closed since spring to save the government cash.
The group, lead by ex-Progressive Conservative leader John Tory called for homes, shops, a hotel & maybe a research facility at Ontario Place.
Tory recommended a lot of the site be public, saying a maximum of 15% of it should be residential & that city council should resist developers' higher-density projects.
The goal is to finish Ontario Place's makeover by 2017.
Niagara politicians & businesses say a new casino anywhere in the GTA would hurt existing ones in Niagara Falls.
