A phony invoice for a classic car could result in charges for a Stony Creek man trying to cross the Queenston-Lewiston bridge in his new ride.

Last Friday, the 45-year-old declared the '69 Chevy Camaro, similar to the one in the photo, stating he purchased the car for $10,000.  He was referred to secondary to pay duties and taxes.  That's when CBSA agents determined the invoice he provided was phony. 

The man produced a second invoice, which said he paid $20,000 for the car.  That, too, turned out to be a fake.

Finally, it was determined he paid more than $67,000 for the classic muscle car. The CBSA continues to investigate the bogus invoces and charges are possible.

Meantime, also last week, agents at the Queenston-Lewiston seized more than $2-million in undeclared cigarettes in the back of a truck. A 50-year-old Hamilton man is facing a hanful of charges. Over at the Peace Bridge, an Ohio man failed to declare two loaded weapons inside a diaper bag.  The 31-year-old was charged by the both CBSA and the Niagara Regional Police for smuggling loaded guns in to Canada.
