Niagara voting boundaries changing?

8/28/2012

Even if you don't have plans to move, you could wind up casting your ballot in a different riding in the next federal election.

Proposed changes to Canada's electoral map would tweak 3 of Niagara's 4 ridings.

The plan is to add 30 seats in the House of Commons, including 1 in Hamilton that would shuffle Niagara voters.

Niagara West-Glanbrook, would lose the "Glanbrook"---& pick up the people of Thorold & south St. Catharines who now vote in the Welland riding.

Fort Erie, south of Netherby Rd would be picked up by Welland.  Right now, all of Fort Erie is part of the Niagara Falls riding.

No changes are planned for the electoral district of St. Catharines.

The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario will hold a hearing on the changes in Niagara Falls in late October.
