Niagara Falls Humane Society sends inspectors into Marineland

9/11/2012

In a media release on its website, The Niagara Falls Humane Society says it sent inspectors into Marineland yesterday.

The release says the inspection was ordered in response to recent concerns raised over the health and welfare of land mammals at the theme park.

Agents inspected deer, elk, bear and buffalo habitats.

The statement says inspectors raised some questions about basic standards of care and asked Marineland to provide further information and documentation.

The inspection follows a Toronto Star article published on the weekend that outlined allegations of mistreatment and neglect of the land animals at the park.

The Humane Society says its investigation is ongoing.
