Second crash on QEW sends trucker to hospital with life threatening injuries

9/19/2012

A truck driver is fighting for his life after a collision on the QEW, not far from an earlier crash which saw a massive dump truck slam in to the Lundy's Lane overpass.

One transport truck slammed in to the other on the Fort Erie bound QEW at Thorold Stone Rd. Damage to both cabs is considerable.

One of the truckers had to be airlifted from the scene.  The OPP says he suffered life-threatning injuries.

The accident happened about an hour after a dump truck trailier hit the Lundy's Lane overpass, sending chunks of concrete all over the road, snarling traffic and forcing the shut down of both the highway and Lundy's Lane as structural engineers determined the extent of the damage.

The driver of a minivan caught up in the crash suffered life-threatening injuries and was also airlifted to hospital.
