The city of St. Catharines has received the proposals from three pre-qualified design build consortiums for the new spectator facility in downtown St. Catharines.
Ball/Rankin Construction, Giffels Westpro/Norr Project Team and PCL Contractors Canada Inc were given a week extension in the tendering process because bids for the project came in over budget.
City staff and councillors will now begin the review process to decide what the best option is for the city.
The city will now review each proposal in detail and interview each company.
The review is expected take approximately three weeks.
The committee will then prepare a report for council recommending the successful proponent.
Council is expected to formally accept the successful proposal at its Oct. 29th meeting, with the report scheduled for public release on Oct. 19th as part of the General Committee agenda.
Two of the three construction firms say construction limitations and geotechnical issues forced them to ask for a two week entension of the deadline.
Instead, the city granted a one week deadline for all three companies.
