New water treatment facility for Niagara on the Lake announced

10/5/2012

The government of Canada and the province of Ontario have invested in Niagara on the Lake.

Niagara Falls MP Rob Nicholson, MPP Kim Craitor and the Lord Mayor were on hand as an announcement was made on a new and improved wastewater facility for the old town.

The new treatment facility will be built roughly 800 metres west of the existing one on Lakeshore Road.

The new plant will be more efficient, help protect the environment and ensure sufficient treatment capacity to meet the needs of the community for the next 20 years.

The feds will set aside almost 15 million dollars, the province has also committed almost 15 million, while the town will be on the hook for the balance of the 43 million dollar price tag of the project.
