Duo arrested after brief pursuit on QEW

10/9/2012

Police have charged two people following a brief car chase along the Q-E-W in St. Catharines yesterday morning.

OPP say they tried to stop a speeding BMW as it travelled westbound on the Q-E-W approaching Lake Street.

Police decided to stop the pursuit when the Beamer exited at Lake Street.

A short time later police came across an accident involving the very same BMW but the driver and a passenger had fled the scene on foot.

Niagara Regional Police managed to catch the two men and handed them over to the OPP.

The investigation revealed the car was fraudulently obtained through identity theft.

He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Twenty four year old passenger Kumar Adebay Marsh of Aurora has been charged and released with a promise to appear.

His charges include obstruction and possession of property obtained by crime over five thousand dollars.

The investigation in on going.
