Truck tire kills woman on QEW in Hamilton

10/16/2012

For the second time in just under a year, a woman has been killed on the QEW after a tire flew off a truck and struck her car.

OPP say the woman travelling along the Toronto bound lanes of the highway at Centennial Parkway around 7 last night was killed when a tire from a Niagara bound pickup flew over the median and struck her windshield.

The woman, who was alone in the car, was rushed to Hamilton General with no vital signs and was pronounced dead in hospital.

Her name has not been released nor has the driver of the pickup.

A 54 year old Hamilton woman was killed nearly a year ago when a truck tire struck her vehicle on the QEW near North Shore Boulevard.
