Spectator facility announcement expected soon

10/19/2012

We'll find out later this afternoon which of the three companies making a bid to build a spectator facility in St. Catharines is getting the nod.

The city of St. Catharines has confirmed the team evaluating the bids will make its decision public sometime after Noon today.

The three contenders include local group Ball/Rankin Construction, Giffels / Norr and PCL Contractors Canada Inc.

The winning bidder still has one more hurdle to deal with.

City council still has to give its approval of the bid.

That will happen at the council meeting on October 29.

The new downtown multi-purpose spectator facility and arena has a total budget of upwards of $45-million. It's expected to take two years to build.
