Members of the Automobile Journalist's Association of Canada have descended on Niagara on the Lake today to kick off the annual TestFest.

The week long event will see the newest and latest cars put through their paces.

The journalists will then determine which vehicles excel in a given category.

After that the winner of each of the 10 categories goes on to compete for Canadian car of the year and Canadian utility vehicle of the year.

Testing at the local airport will be performed over four days.

The vehicles will also receive real world testing and will be taken out on roads throughout Niagara on the Lake.

This year's slate of cars is one of the largest in TestFest's 25 year history.
