Proposed indoor soccer club hung up in Niagara Falls

10/24/2012

Niagara Falls city council has given the developers of a proposed indoor soccer club until December 31st to get their affairs in order or risk losing a one million dollar investment from the city.

Even councillors who originally supported helping fund the four million dollar project on Swayze Drive appear to be having second thoughts.

It's been two years since council approved the funding.

Last night club president Tim Chamberlain asked for more time to secure a loan and to settle a dispute over the plan filed with the OMB.

Councillor Carolyn Iannoni who didn't support the funding in the first place, doesn't think the project will see the light of day.

The  64,000 square-foot facility includes soccer fields, a clinic and  snack bar along with room for gymnastics and mixed martial arts.
