Friends and family calling for Riehl skate park in honour of fallen student

10/26/2012

A group of EL Crossley students has started a campaign to raise money to build a skate park in the memory of Issac Riehl, a grade 9 student who lost his life in a tragic accident.

Isaac was skateboarding on Foss Road in Pelham last week when he was struck by a car.

He passed away Monday from his injuries.

Fellow students have launched a fundraiser to help pay for a skate park in the town in honor of Isaac and to create a safe area for kids to board.

The students have applied for a grant from Aviva, an insurance company that provides money for projects that create lasting change in communities.

Through a Facebook page www.facebook.com/RiehlSkatePark, students are asking us to click on the Aviva link http://www.avivacommunityfund.org/ideas/ and vote for their plan to help turn a tragedy into something positive.

The kids of Pelham having been asking for skateboard/bmx facilities for years, only to be ignored. On the other hand long boarders usually don't use skateparks.
