Environment Canada says snow squalls are a possibility for south Niagara Friday. They've issued a snow squall watch for the area.

The agency says southwesterly winds off Lake Erie could bring 10cm of wet snow to places like Niagara Falls, Fort Erie & Welland.

The snow should be wet enough to melt on major roads, but because of the volume, eventually build up & slow driving.

Environment Canada predicts driving conditions will get worse on rural roads Friday night.

Niagara Regional Police tells 610 CKTB News they're experiencing more minor crashes & instances of cars sliding into ditches than usual in places like Fort Erie.

Environment Canada has forecast 2cm-4cm of snow for north Niagara.

A small victory for angry business & home owners along Lundy's Lane.

At a meeting Wednesday, Niagara Peninsula Energy agreed to stop the installation of hydro poles on a busy stretch of the Lane.

Land owners complain the work is tearing down or trimming 100 year-old trees. They also worry the unsightly poles will drive down property values.

Jacqueline Baldini, who owns a photography business on Lundy's Lane was in the 90 minute meeting. She says everyone walked out with a better understanding of what's going on.

Both sides will meet again after Niagara Peninsula Energy looks into alternatives to building hydro poles.

Baldini says the utility didn't have accurate estimates for what it would cost to move the work underground.

Angry Lundy's Lane land owners to meet with Niagara Peninsula Energy

Angry business & home owners along Lundy's Lane will get an audience with Niagara Peninsula Energy today.

The 2 groups are meeting at Regional Headquarters at 1:30pm.

The Niagara Falls residents are steaming over the utility's installation of concrete hydro poles on the Lane.

Charles Vandersluys who owns a photography business there, says the work is tearing down or trimming 100-year-old trees. He complains the "unsightly" poles will drive down the value of his property by thousands of dollars.

Monday night city council ordered Niagara Peninsula Energy to stop the work until it consulted with property owners on Lundy's Lane.

But the work continued the next day. Members of the Lundy's Lane BIA staged a blockade in protest, parking their cars on property where the work was taking place.

A number of small businesses and residents along a stretch of Lundy's Lane in Niagara Falls are furious with Niagara Peninsula Energy.

The utility is installing new, concrete hydro polls at the expense of the handful of trees that dot the historic street, according to those opposed to the work.

They say trees have been cut down or badly damaged in order to get the poles up.

The issue was brought up at Monday's city council meeting and NPEI was ordered to halt the work and consult residents but business owners tell 610 CKTB News, that hasn't happened.

As a result, the business owners and residents are blocking the workers with their vehicles.

It's unclear if that has stopped the work. Calls to Niagara Peninsula Energy have not been returned.

As one listener suggested, you can benefit from swimming in a cool (not cold) pool or immersing yourself in a tub of cool water. Immersing your head is especially helpful, and applying a cool (not cold) washcloth to your weists, neck and back can also help.
