Blind Zebras

Replacement ref rage is all the rage in the NFL these days.  With the regular zebras on the sidelines due to their contract dispute the league has brought in accountants and doctors and even fans to referee their football games.  The officiating has been horrible.  Belichick almost jumped out of his hoodie running after a ref after a botched call.  But it all came to a head during last night’s Monday nighter between the Packers and Seahawks.  On the final play of the game Golden Tate shoved a Green Bay defender out of the way, stripped the ball from another and after further review was awarded the game winning touchdown.  Seattle beats the Pack 14-12.

I don’t know why everybody’s going ballistic at these rent a refs.  Seattle fans aren’t complaining.  Hey, if they’re horrible for one team, they’ll be horrible for everyone.  It’ll all even out in the end.  Some might suggest the crappy officiating will give the real refs more power to get what they want from the league.  You think so, eh?  Don’t bet on it.  Roger Goodell isn’t going to beg the real guys to come back because of a couple of controversial calls on the field.  The replacement ship has sailed.  The league has to stick with their inferior officiating for the rest of the season and that includes the Super Bowl.  What goes around comes around.  It may be horrible to watch, but it’s only fair.
