Interview With 12 Yr. Old Self-VIDEO

Jeremiah McDonald is a 32 yr. old filmmaker from Portland, Maine. Since 2006 he has been a regular contributor to YouTube with many clever videos.

In the last couple of days his latest social network contribution has gone viral. When Jeremiah was younger, he made videos of himself, an outgoing kid. Recently he used a video of himself at age 12, interviewing his future (or present) self.

MASTERFUL WORK

As you will see the results are very cool. His work in editing his present day self with his child self of 20 years ago is well done. I marvelled at how he integrated the past with the present. Even as I watched (several times over now) my pure entertainment was interrupted by the thought that "these aren't two actors", this is the same person, yet somehow not.

Even more impressive to me was that in 1992 a 12 yr. old had the idea to interview himself in the future, then save the tape, AND then in 2012 to follow up on that childhood project.

I have looked at pictures of myself from when I was a kid, and though I remember distinct parts of that time, I often wonder, "who is that kid?" and I'd like to meet him, say hello and chat for a while. Maybe that's part of the appeal here. Either way...it's a fun thing to watch.

That was awesome Larry! Thanks for your insight on it too. I think I actually had a greater appreciation for the video and his work than I would have without having read your blog before hand. Nice find! :)
