Same Picture Every 5 Years
A group of friends got together at a lake after high school graduation in 1982. They took a photo of themselves, all about 19 yrs. old. They were vacationing at Copco Lake in Northern California. It was then they vowed to get together every 5 years and pose for the same photo. It's been 30 years and below are the 7 pictures.
They are (l-r) John Wardlaw, Mark Rumer, Dallas Burney, John Molony and John Dickson and it is courtesy of John Wardlaw that these pics are making the rounds.
SUBTLE CHANGES
They sit in the same order on the same bench (same lake, same mountains), Molony always holds a jar in his right hand, Rumer has some sort of hat on his right knee and they always wear serious expressions.
Over time, other than getting older, you can see a change in trends. As Dickson said, "they're all in T-shirts now cause it was cold and cloudy and we didn't have tans like early on." Wardlaw added, and "we're flabby."
At the beginning they all thought "what if in 20 years we don't know each other" and by vowing to get together for a picture every 5 years it would be a way to stay in touch. In fact they have gone different ways. Dickson is a restaurant columnist, Wardlaw is into photography and film, Burney is a teacher. Molony works for UPS in New Orleans, Rumer is retired and lives in Oregon. None of them have children.
Now that they have come this far it is even more inspiration to get together again in 2017 and they have agreed that if something happens to one of them, they will continue the tradition only with a gap in the photo.
Kudos to them. I wish I had done it with some of my friends including the various permutations of our "Florida foursome". Oh we have pictures and memories, but not like this. Pretty cool. LEAVE COMMENTS.
