Jack Layton Remembered-One Year Later

Posted By: Larry Fedoruk · 8/22/2012 8:26:00 AM
One year ago, August 22, 2011, we lost Jack Layton.  Here was my post in the days that followed.  On this the one year anniversary these pictures tell a story of a man in touch with people, a rarity among politicians of any stripe. I thought I would repost it today.  RIP Jack.
FROM ONE YEAR AGO:

This is a one last look at Jack Layton, celebrating his life in pictures.  I hope you enjoy the pictorial essay.

Also here is my link to my original tribute which also has a link to his final letter (worth the read) and the video of his final press conference of July 25/11.

RIP Jack Layton.  You made a difference.  Not many can claim that lofty accomplishment.

Enjoy the pics.  Enjoy the memories. -LF-

Thank you for posting this Larry. Jack was an exceptional man, one who was able to make an impact on many. I admired him for his drive and fight and I watched him closely as he battled his disease. I was diagnosed with brain cancer in Oct 2010 and as I was starting my fight, he was losing his. His final letter to Canadians gave me hope that my journey wouldn't fail, or at least to make the best of it while I could. Even in his final days he still had the compassion to try and offer solace and hope to Canadians that were battling the very disease that was taking his life. What can you really say about a human being like that? Remarkable. He will truly be missed by many. R.I.P Jack.
