Wonderful World Hand Shadow Show

I chanced upon this video. I cried. Apparently I cry now even at hand shadow puppet shows.

I was surprised to learn that the performance and posting was from 2007-08 and that the Australian performer, Raymond Crowe, has already been on Letterman, Craig Ferguson and other North American television shows. So my apologies if this is old stuff to you, but on the off chance it isn't...everyone should see this. It does the heart good.

UNIQUE

Hand shadow puppetry shows have to be one of the earliest forms of entertainment. I'm sure cavemen entertained the hell out of each other shortly after inventing fire. They had light, they had their hands...so...”Let's put on a show.” I always remember my grandfather showing me a few of his hand shadow tricks, but other than “bunny rabbit” I didn't retain them.

I wonder what would prompt somebody to bring back this old art form, or how you even first would realize you are good at it? Maybe his grandfather showed him.

So this is Raymond Crowe, immediately followed by the Louis Armstrong performance of What A Wonderful World. Dare you not to get at least a little choked up. LEAVE COMMENTS.
