Why does anything happen? How and when does something suddenly catch on? With all the information at our finger tips it's still sometimes difficult to discern how something becomes popular.

We can in hindsight understand why, or even find a tipping point when things go viral but overall we sometimes just scratch our heads at things that suddenly “take off.”

FAMILY STICKERS

Suddenly I seem to see Family Stickers everywhere. You can get them on various sites and they are usually called Family Stickers or The Sticker Family or some such thing. Their popularity has even spawned anti-family stickers to show how little “we” care about your fad, but thereby instigating a fad of our own. Of course the corporate/product world has gotten a hold of them as well.

If you haven't seen them, start looking around. They grace the back and side windows of SUV's and minivans mostly, and it can be anything from a 15 year old Hyundai with rust spots, to a spankin' new Range Rover. Naturally you can customize them to reflect your own personal family, ie, number of kids, gender, and activites that dad, mom and the fam enjoy, pets included.

The minor research I did on these found some people already commenting on them as far back as 2006 yet it seems like only the last 6-12 months that I suddenly see them everywhere. What happened? Do YOU know?
