Sexy CPR (NSFW)
This is a test. Here's a video I stumbled upon on a site called StumbleUpon. (*NOT an adult site.) It is called SuperSexy CPR and has been around for over a year. I just saw it for the first time.
It's sexy, there is no doubt about that. It plays upon some odd male fantasy of two attractive women “getting it on”. I'm not sure why men have this fantasy but it likely stems from two themes. 1) We watch porn. 2) We're afraid if we watch too much male genitalia, even with a woman involved, that might make us gay. (Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just, you know...men!)
SEX SELLS?
Therefore two women covers us off so to speak, but that's just a guess. There is a long standing belief that sex sells and it has obviously been used in media over time to hawk everything: beer, cars, clothes, perfume, TV, movies, food and so forth, AND in this case proper CPR techniques. But does it? Studies show that sex may get us to watch but product recall from a sexy ad is abysmal. Less the 10% of men remembered the product information, less than half of women.
Sexy beer ads do little to encourage product recall and in a study of hundreds of movies, sex had very little impact on box office numbers. SO TAKE THE TEST.
Watch the ad and then imagine you had to perform CPR. Could you do it? Would you remember what to do? Would you first reaction be to go put on a bra and panties?
Just as an experiment I have watched the ad dozens of times. I'll probably watch it again right now in the name of science. But god forbid don't pass out in front of me, cause I'm not sure I'll be able to do anything beyond calling 9-1-1. I wonder how many men needed CPR after watching? LEAVE COMMENTS.
