Things like water are among the most amazing cause it's always been virtually free, yet somehow now we are willing to pay exhorbitant prices. Here's the brief list (highlights) with the approximate mark up.

BOTTLED WATER: Up to 4000% mark up.

WINES: 2 or 3 times retail in a restaurant. If you sip by the glass up to 400% mark up.

HOTEL MINI-BAR: Up to 400% mark up on items, not just the booze.

COFFEE: Outside of your house you're paying up to 300% more.

MOVIE THEATRE POPCORN/CANDY: Almost 1300%. We all know how this works.

FOUNTAIN SODA ANYWHERE: 300 to 600% more at a bar, club or restaurant.

EYE GLASS FRAMES: Mark ups can reach 1000%.

DESIGNER JEANS: Up to 600%.

BAKERY GOODS: 100% mark up.

GREETING CARDS: 200%.

PRODUCE: Marked up 75%.

SALAD BARS: Some items up as high as 350%.

COSMETICS: Almost an 80% mark up.

FURNITURE/MATTRESSES: Mark ups of about 80%.

TEXT MESSAGES: Outgoing can cost the provider 3/10 of a cent and you up to 20 cents which is a mark up of 6000%.

So I think immediately I can drink tap water, sneak my own snacks into the movies, make my own greeting cards and go to an unlimited text message plan. LEAVE COMMENTS.  Feel free to add to the list.
