Can we afford two school boards?

Posted By: Tim Denis · 9/5/2012 9:37:00 AM

Ontario is one of very few places that funds two separate school boards.  A new report says we could save 1.5 Billion dollars by eliminating the Catholic boards and funding only one pulic school system...

Many people have come out in favouir and against the idea.  Is it time we debated it properly?  Without fear of being accused of discriminating?

Having public and catholic school boards divides, is a waste of taxpayers money and is pandering to only one religion. If you leave the door ajar then you should just let it be wide open and have muslim schools, orthodox schools, hindu schools etc. . It doesn't make any sense. Why are we dividing ourselves up.. for religion? Not to mention it's a complete sham. The vast majority of those kids in Catholic schools are not devout Catholics believe me. In fact, I'm sure the vast majority don't even go to catholic church. I knew friends that went to Catholic schools and weren't even Catholic. The vast majority don't believe in Creationism. Why are agnostic, atheist, muslim, hindu, orthodox etc. tax dollars going to a Catholic school board? Leave religion out of education. Eliminate the Catholic schoolboard. It would do a world of good and save money.
