When did we become a nation of 12 year old boys? Seriously. Our reaction and obsession with the naked photos of Kate Middleton would be downright embarrassing if it weren’t for the fact that most of the western world is caught up as well. People clicked all over the internet to see grainy pictures of Kate in half a bikini but the strength of the firestorm that followed made you think that Kate had been caught making out with Harry on a roof top in Vegas.
Now I’m no prude. I have nothing against the sight of naked breasts. Quite the opposite actually but lets get a reality check here. They are a married couple…they were just sunbathing and more impotantly shes just one of about 700,000,000 naked women on the internet. Why is this so special? Because she has money and privelidge? Because this is our only way of the great unwashed (that would be you and me) venting our jealousy of their lifestyle? I don’t know but the reaction to all of this is way out of proportion to the actual phots. They are no big deal. Half the population has breasts…they are all over the internet in much greater clarity…Yes I know its because she is going to be Queen.
I only feel a bit sorry for them because the whole idea of sunbathing naked without someone seeing is something most people could never do…so if you do it on a balcony of a home that isn’t your own are you not just asking for trouble. Of V Course you are.
The royal family has made good on their word and filed a lawsuit against the French newspaper. The papers mention 'The Closer' as the culprit that violated their privacy by snapping photos of a topless Kate Middleton sunbathing on a private beach. The offending photographer could face thousands of dollars in fines and a one-year jail term if convicted. The royals could be busy with lawsuits, as an Irish paper has now published the photos, and an Italian publication has announced their intention to publish as many as 50 of them.
Let them sue and let the story die. Its time to grow up. We're not 12 anymore...
