Boozers should pay?

With so much talk about booze of late...relaxing Ontario’s antiquated drinking laws etc….it’s interesting to see the things that are concerning others around the world as it pertains to tipping a few.  Heavy drinking is causing Britain as many health problems as it is costing the country too much money that could have been spent on genuine health care, according to a new study.
One in six Britons drinks more than they should apparently...while one in 60has a level of alcohol addiction and the so-called boozing culture costs Britain over 4 billion U.S. dollars a year.

The report says the bulk of the 4 billion spent on boozers goes to hospitals and ambulance services which are forced to deal with people who get into difficulties after drinking too much,
half of all assaults are related to alcohol, along with more than a fifth of accidental deaths and almost a third ...

A little pizza heaven...

Posted By: Tim Denis · 5/14/2012 9:49:00 AM

The first pizzeria in North America was opened in 1905 by Gennaro Lombardi at 53 1/3 Spring Street in New York City.
North Americans eat approximately 350 slices of pizza per second.

Pizza...its a staple of life here in North America...just cruise the streets of this town and count the number of pizza joints on just about any corner and in every strip mall.  It amazes me constantly that they can all survive...given that they all make pizza the same basic way with very few variations yet we all have favourites and our love affair won't be dying soon.  As big as it is here Pizza in Naples Italy is a symbol ,a legend a part of the fabric of history...Neapolitan pizza was invented between 1715 and 1725, with the world-famous Margherita variant first cooked up in 1889.

Tradition has it that queen Margherita of Savoy asked one of Naples' ...

Keeping you abreast of the news

'Time' magazine has stirred controversy with the cover of its new issue that shows a young mother in jeans and a tank top nursing her nearly 4-year-old son, who's standing on a chair in front of her so he can reach her breast. The headline reads, "Are You Mom Enough," is actually  about Dr. William Sears and his attachment parenting movement, which includes advocacy for extended breastfeeding.  Says that they used an image that represents the attachment of a mother and child. The cover is meant to get your attention. The woman on the cover, 26-year-old Jamie Lynne Grumet, is a lactation consultant and breastfeeding advocate who has two children, one of whom is at her breast on the cover. She told Time that people who see her breastfeeding in public will sometimes accuse her of child molestation or say they're going to call social services, but she says, "People ...

Tell me what you think!!!

Politicians often wonder why people tend to question their motives.  They wonder why, when ranking the relative honesty of various people in society, those in the political world end up near the bottom of the list with ambulance chasers and snake oil salesmen.  One of the biggest reasons is fairly obvious.  Most don’t have the courage of their convictions.

They spend too much time filtering every single sentence through a team of spin doctors so that they don’t offend absolutely anyone.  Trouble is, of course, they end up pleasing no one either.  I must admit that I have much more respect for those who stand by their views, or sometimes espouse views that they know will be controversial.  The Harry Trumans and Pierre Trudeaus of history.

Yesterday US  President Obama announced that he supports gay marriage, becoming the first sitting U.S. president to ever do so. Obama used to ...

"I don't need no stinkin' passport..."

Posted By: Tim Denis · 5/8/2012 9:27:00 AM

This week was a perfect storm for me.  With my birthday coming up the gov’t has decided to hit me up for all kinds of things all at once.  My vehicle plates meaning I pay for the right to own a car, I had to pay for a drive clean emissions test this year so I have to pay for the air that I breath, my driver’s license, meaning I must pay for the right to drive it (and a couple of parking tickets…meaning I must pay for the right to park it). My health card is also expired , meaning I pay for the right to drive my car to the doctors and I realized with horror yesterday that my passport was also going to be out of date next week…meaning I must pay for the right to leave the country that is making me pay for all those ...
