Tickets are now on sale for the year 2012 Shakespeare in the Vineyard production of one of the Bard’s best-loved comedies, “As You Like It”. There will be six performances with play dates of July 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21. Directed by Michael Madden and produced by Laura Moffat of Firehall Theatre, As You Like It is filled with sparkling characters and delightful wit. Rosalind and her cousin escape from the evil uncle the Duke, and enter the mystical forest of Arden where court civility is abandoned for a Bacchanalian world of hidden identities and impressionable love. The enchanting surroundings of Henry of Pelham Winery provide the perfect backdrop for this annual event which is now recognized as a must-do wine country feature attended by many repeat patrons from Ontario and New York State. Patrons are invited to enjoy a fine evening of entertainment while sipping a glass of Niagara’s finest wines. The wine bar opens at 6:00 pm with performances commencing at 7:00 pm. All proceeds from Shakespeare in the Vineyard are in support of the Niagara Peninsula Children’s Centre which provides therapy for more than 3,000 children with physical, behavioural or communicative disabilities from all 12 municipalities in Regional Niagara.
