The Welland Recreational Canal Corporation and Niagara 2012 - Cultural Capital of Canada are proud to be hosting an event in celebration of International Youth Day (IYD) 2012. The theme of this year’s IYD is “Building a Better World – Partnering with Youth” The day will consist of many elements including a digital art exhibit on a 36 foot wide water screen. The concept behind the youth installation dubbed Niagara as WE see itis to show a variety of photo montages and videos that illustrate what local culture means to Niagara’s youth. Submissions are still being accepted for the event with a deadline of July 30. See submission requirements online at http://www.artonwater.canalcorp.ca. The installation will be open to the public and free of charge. Running with the theme of this year’s IYD “Building a Better World: Partnering with Youth”, the event will begin at 4pm with a trade show style of information stations around Merritt Park. Local youth-oriented, community groups and organizations will be present to offer information on activities and resources that are available to the youth within the region, including the Niagara Falls Business Development Office. Musician Cassie Sukkel will be performing live starting at 5pm, the digital art exhibit will be played at dusk and the evening will be finished off with a feature film played on the water screen. The evening will conclude at 11pm
