Flames of War – An 1812 Son et Lumière Niagara-on-the-Lake’s very own sound and light show. When the Americans declared war on Canada on June 18 th, 1812, some of their officers werestill enjoying dinner at Fort George. Two hundred years later Parks Canada is inviting everyone back to enjoy a more relaxed evening. Flames of War – An 1812 Son et Lumière – tells the story of the War of 1812 in a fusion ofvideo, sound, light, music, drama and dance, projected on the exterior of a Parks Canada Heritage Blockhouse in the historic grounds of Fort George, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. The causes and events of the War of 1812 come alive in a dramatic series of vignettes, visual imagery and animation. It is a story of survival, loss, heroics and victories, set against a backdrop of fire, water and stolen land. In particular the Flames of War focuses on themajor battlefield of the war – Niagara. Flames of War is showing Friday, Saturday and Monday evenings till September 1, and then every Saturday till early fall.Showtime: Dusk (8.45 pm approx.)
