The Optimist Club of St. Catharines has been proudly serving the community and its youth for over 75 years. We sponsor 23 Optimist Air Cadet Squadron, 1st St. Catharines Girl Guides, Sport by Ability Niagara, Aaron Melko Bike Rodeo, and numerous other youth agencies and events. We engage in various fundraising activities in order to be able to help with these projects. We have been given an opportunity by the N.E.T. Camping Resort at 2325 Regional Road 24 in Vineland to hold a fundraising day on their premises on August 25, 2012 from 10 am to 2 pm. We are planning a barbeque, raffle table, and bake table. We already have over 50 items for the raffle table. There will be live music as well. All proceeds will go to our Club’s youth projects. The N.E.T. campground has over 300 camping sites. The owners and the seasonal campers donate to local food banks. There are bins throughout the camp supporting the Shriners pop can drive. But, the owners of the camp, Tony and Tara Miklavcic wanted to do something more – they wanted to help another organization with a focus on youth. Thus, this fundraising day was planned. This event is open to all. Anyone not a N.E.T. camper would pay park admission at the gate ($7 or $5 for seniors). This would also give them use of the pools and splash pad for the day.
