Lights Out in Fort Erie

Three streetlights were damaged and one vehicle was completely destroyed by fire after a collision in Fort Erie.

Friday night a blue 2005 Subaru was travelling southbound on Lakeshore Road when it left the roadway, striking three light poles in a row

The collision caused extensive damage to the poles knocking 2 of them into the roadway.

The vehicle came to rest against a third pole and ignited into flames.

Immediately after the collision, a man was seen leaving the scene on foot. Police and the K9 unit conducted a search of the area but came up with nothing.

A short while after the collision officers received a tip that led them to a home in Fort Erie,where a male believed to have been the driver of the vehicle was located, suffering minor injuries.

The estimated damage to the vehicle and the light poles is $40 000.
