Peter Kormos throws his support behind Peggy Nash's NDP leadership bid


Former Welland NDP MPP Peter Kormos has weighed in on the NDP's federal leadership race to replace Jack Layton.

The outspoken Kormos, a life long New Democrat, has thrown his support behind candidate Peggy Nash, the MP for Parkdale-High Park.

In a release, Kormos says Nash "stands head and shoulders above her opponents."

He says the NDP, the federal parliament and Canadians need her leadership adding she's quality Prime MInisterial material.

Nash is expected to make an appearance in Niagara during her campaign for leader of the party.

    I'm not sure how far endorsements are going to get anyone. I think most party members are going to see for themselves who the best candidate is, based on their ideas and their personality. That's why I support Nathan Cullen.
