14-year-old's record swim on hold

8/17/2012

Annaleise Carr will have to wait for her shot at the record books.

The 14-year-old from Norfolk County is out to become the youngest person to ever swim across Lake Ontario.

She was supposed to climb in the water in Niagara-on-the-Lake off Queen's Royal Park Friday night.  But her swim is on hold now because it's too windy out.  Carr tweets she'll try again at 6pm Saturday.

Carr is following the strokes of Marilyn Bell, hoping to eventually swim to the Toronto park named in honour of the Canadian swimmer.

She tells 610 CKTB's Joe Cahill she's been getting ready with night swimming & practicing feeding in the water.

Carr is swimming to raise money for Camp Trillium Rainbow Lake in Waterford which helps children with cancer.  You can learn more about the cause & how to donate here.
