Ontario energy agencies to merge

The province is expected to announce the merger of two big electricity agencies Wednesday.
Sources say the Ontario Power Authority & the Independent Electricity System Operator will be joining forces. Both are planning agencies & don't produce or distribute electricity to you.
The Ontario government promised to review the province's energy agencies to find efficiencies.
Agency consolidation was among the NDP's budget demands. Progressive Conservative leader Tim Hudak vowed to shut down the Ontario Power Authority during last year's election campaign.
But industry insiders says merging the non-unionized OPA & union shop IESO could be tricky.
