Government of Canada Invests in Thorold Seniors' Projects

6/27/2012

The government of Canada has announced funding for two organizations in Thorold.

The Thorold Senior Citizens Association Computer Room/Library will receive just over 22 thousand dollars to help with the purchase of computers, bookshelves and desks.

The City of Thorold will receive 25 thousand dollars to buy energy efficient kitchen appliances for social functions, fundraising events and cooking classes.

The announcement is all a part of the New Horizons for Seniors Program which helps enhance the lives of seniors all over the country.

It has funded more than ten thousand projects in hundreds of communities across Canada.

This year alone the government of Canada will provide more than 35 million dollars to almost two thousand community projects.

It is wonderful to read a positive story about government money well spent in funding for the Thorold Senior Citizen's Association Computer Room/Library and the City of Thorold for energy efficient appliances. It sounds like a lot of money but we all know it won't go far. It is a good start, though.
