NRP officer accused of stealing cameras

7/5/2012

We know a little more now about a case in which a Niagara Regional Police officer has been charged.

OPP say a number of security cameras were stolen from a house in South Bruce Peninsula last month.  Someone was also seen damaging the property.

Jeffrey May, 9-year officer with the NRP is accused in the case.  He's charged with mischief, theft & trespassing.  He'll be in an Owen Sound court to answer to those charges next month.

May, who was already on desk duty has been suspended with pay.

May is 1 of 3 NRP officers who've been read their rights in recent weeks.  In June, Constable Paul Zarafronitis was charged with assault after allegedly roughing up a customer at a Niagara Falls bar while on duty.  In a separate case, Sergeant Cathy Edgecombe was charged with impaired driving.

what did he do? the standard doesn't say what he did either, other than mischief and trespass - where? why? how?, etc. etc. very vague - on purpose??

My three favorite words. "Suspended with pay". Why are our tax dollars still paying any of hese officers when they are facing charges? If found not guilty, go back and pay them, but until then, not working then no pay!
