Border bridge traffic updates now in real time

7/16/2012

The Queenston Lewiston and Peace Bridges have gone hi tech.

This morning, Justice Minister and Niagara Falls M-P Rob Nicholson unveiled new blue tooth technology that calculates traffic wait times on the two spans in real time.

Niagara Falls Bridge Commission G-M Lew Holloway says traffic wait times will now be updated every five minutes as opposed to the previous manual calculations that were done every half hour to an hour.

Holloway tells us the technology will be available on the Rainbow Bridge next year, for now wait times on the span are being calculated manually.

If you check out the Commission's website you will find a colourful chart giving you real time traffic updates on the Queenston Lewiston and Peace bridges.
