Niagara's Public Health Department has issued an Excessive Heat Alert.
The hot and humid conditions Niagara experienced Thursday are expected to stick around for the weekend.
The region is asking you to be careful by:
-planning outdoor activities in the morning or evening when the heat is less intense
-not leaving kids alone in the car; protecting them with hats, loose clothes & sunscreen
-using a cold shower to cool down, not a fan
-drinking lots of water
-being on the lookout for signs of heat sickness like headache, dizziness, confusion nausea, muscle swelling & heart issues
Niagara Public Health says seniors, small children & overweight people have the hardest time handling the high heat.
