NRP say tweet along a success

8/18/2012

Niagara Regional Police are calling their first ever Twitter Ride Along a success.

During the eight hours of the Tweet Along, call takers and dispatchers processed over 141, 911 calls and over 222 non emergency police calls.

While many followers thought this was a busy night dispatchers from B Platoon advised this was a pretty average night as far as call volume.

It started at seven o'clock last night and ended at three o'clock this morning.

The goal of the Twitter Ride Along was to raise public awareness of the Service’s presence on social media, increase the number of followers on Twitter and educate the public into the type and volume of calls police respond to.

NRP say the goals were met and exceeded with total followers rising to one thousand considering the account is only a few weeks old.
