New poll says Liberals should review decision on slots at racetracks program

8/19/2012

A new on-line poll is strongly suggesting that the McGuinty government re-think its decision to shut down the Slots at Racetracks program.

The survey was conducted by Abacus Data Poll on behalf of Racing Future.

It was conducted online with a representative sample of 502 respondents living in Ontario using an internet survey platform.

Respondents were asked whether or not they were aware of the program before the date of the survey.

Seventeen per cent supported the government's decision, 41 per cent were opposed and 43 per cent were indifferent.

Respondents were also asked if they think the Liberals should review their decision, with 76 per cent saying yes.

Overall, respondents were also more likely to consider the program a partnership rather than a subsidy.

The survey was completed from August 10-12, 20-12.
