GM St.Kitt's Next ?

About 1,400 people will lose their jobs when GM closes the Windsor facility, which comes on top of the 1,000 layoffs the company announced last month at its Oshawa truck plant.
C-A-W president Buzz Hargrove says the closure will also impact G-M's St. Catharines plant, since a lot of jobs there are dependent on Windsor's transmissions. While GM St. Catharines Communications Manager, Virginia Lewis admits that's true, she tells CKTB news they knew it was coming. She says now is the time to focus on GM's new 400 million dollar potential investment in the Garden City.
A year ago (last May) General Motors announced St. Catharines was the company's preferred location for a new transmission production in 2009.
