According to a study released by Reed Construction Data; the city of St. Catharines is second only to Victoria, B.C. when it comes to job growth.

The rate of job growth in the Garden City stands at just under four percent (3.9%); compared to the rest of the country's job growth rate of just one point four percent.

St.Catharines Conservative M.P. Rick Dykstra says this shows their plan of working with all levels of government promoting St. Catharines as a place to invest is working for residents of the Garden City. He adds this is a sign that things are starting to "turn around" after a rough patch regarding economic growth. But he notes there's still to be done since the unemployment rate of 7 percent means St. Catharines has the 6th highest rate of joblessness in the country.

Dykstra says the federal government has invested over 38 million dollars in infrastructure improvement during the last 30 months and that another 35 million has been earmarked.

He also mentions that over 27 and a half million dollars in tax relief has been provided to Garden City residents.
