A 10 year old boy was airlifted to McMaster Children's Hospital after falling 80 feet into the Niagara Gorge yesterday afternoon around 4:30.
Parks Police say the boy, who was visiting the falls from out of country with his family, was sitting on a railing near the Horseshoe Falls at the bottom of Murray Street, to have his picture taken.
Police say he lost his balance and fell backwards, plummeting to the gorge floor below.
Niagara Falls Fire, EMS and members of the Parks High Angle River Rescue Team were called in to rescue the boy.
He was flown to the Hamilton hospital with life threatening injuries.
The boy is reported to be in serious but stable condition.
